Working on my second cup of decaf coffee, I have the morning news playing in my room for a change. I’m waiting for an interview with Singer/Poet/Author Patti Smith. Most of you may not know I have been following Ms. Smith’s career most of my adult life. Her music, her attitude, her reality fascinates me with her unique way with words. While waiting through the teases and cooking segments, the sun is shining through the dirty windows in the office. I wish I could say more about the Smith interview, but I had to turn off the racket I was forced to listen too. So I’ll just find it later on You Tube or something. It’s funny how we are teased to death by mass media just to get a 10 second sound bite, that doesn’t tell us anything anyway. Leaving us with a hunger for more little hits of dopamine, just to satisfy the ID we all carry. (See, I did pay attention in Psy 101). While I’ll be the first to admit that I spent hours Doom Scrolling through Tic Tac and Instacram, it’s mostly out of a sense of being bored. You see my wife and I sorta have an unwritten rule where we don’t bother each other during the day. While that may seem like a shitty way to live a marriage, it imitates a normal life where you are usually apart most of the day anyway. Most of our interaction occurs in the evening after a day of pursuing our own interest. There like most couples we compare notes and discuss the things that are important to us as a couple. I more than understand that my wife has her own interests and hobbies, just as I do. So by giving each other some space I think it helps our unique situation. So as I sit here haphazardly typing out my confessions. Through the walls I hear my bride’s crime show reruns while she paints a gingerbread house for the holidays. #Life #Everyday #Confession #PattiSmith #KeepingThePeace
