Kind of Reflection

Kind of Reflection

Been a kinda dull morning, just got back from the Dollar and More store. It’s kinda late but I’m not feeling hungry, I spent most of yesterday evening paying bills and listening to John Mellencamp. “Hurt so Good”. Anyway I got on my only pair of tie-up shoes marveling at the idea that I can still tie the bunny ears. I don’t remember who taught me to tie shoes left-handed. But all my kids learned to tie shoes that way, which gives this only left hand in the family a certain degree of satisfaction.

But we all learn in our own way don’t we? Our Autistic son lacks the verbal cues most do, but that doesn’t make him dumb. Same goes for my wife, who’s main problem is information retention. She just forgets things. But that woman reminds me of every family birthday that comes up. I’m talking about cousins, in-laws, and aunts and uncles. A few days ago I was pretty harsh with my family, but that was due to my own weakness and frustration. But with time and a lot of reflection (my mom would call it conviction) I’ve pretty much chilled out.

So as I sit here on a sunny, but windless morning. I can’t help but look at the rays of sunlight beaming across my desk and wonder. A reflection is more than a vague copy of what lies ahead. In a way, it’s a mirror reflecting the motion that the sunlight detects. Flowing in and out of the shadows, we often try to hide what we are thinking about. So what kind of reflection are you giving off? Is it one of Illumination or are the shadowy parts where your true self lies. Interesting thought isn’t it.
