Moments Left

In a rare move I gave myself a few days off from writing this weekend. Instead I just texted some friends, celebrated my granddaughters birthday, and took some time to read other peoples work. In this little world that I’ve created for myself, I have a routine where I can write most of the morning. Then have lunch and take it easy in the afternoons. It ain’t much of a life, but it fills most of the moments I got left.

While the inevitability of age is something we all must face. Some things don’t have to be faced, like the hate filled attitudes of those that wish total control. While we may say that’s not what we want to live under. Sadly enough, it looks more like that’s what we currently do. Opinionated news, social media, and increasing tribalism has driven a wedge between US. Such hot button topics as abortion, immigrant rights, and gender equality has driven a divide between even me and family and friends. All of whom I dearly love.

It saddens me to read and hear such hateful words. And while many on my side of the fence scream “Fight Back”. All I can whisper are the often insulted words, “Why can’t me all just get along”? Labels and stereotypes don’t help anyone’s cause. Words like, “Welfare Queen”, “Homo”, and “Moocher” may unite a chosen few. Such as the words “Homophobic”, “Ignorant”, and “Religious Freak” are embraced by others. You know, I’m just sick of it, but then everybody looks at me and says, “You Wimp”…  Amazing.

John 13:34-35 (NKJV)
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
