Remember Patience

Life is full of so many victories and defeats. What should have been a day of victory for my best friend yesterday turned into a defeat when one of her adult children ended up getting rear-ended by a semi-truck. We have all experienced these kind of including myself. After taking what I thought was a wonderful nap yesterday afternoon. My wife wasn’t feeling particularly well and went to bed early. It didn’t take long to feel pain in my lower abdomen myself. So while she drifted into a deep sleep, I ended up spending most of the early morning in uncomfortable pain.

While it was an uncomfortable night I got up got dressed and prepared for the worse. But so far today the sun is shining bright, and I can see the birds outside of window digging in the grass. You never know how things are going to turn out like the old saying says, “Some days are diamonds, and some days are stone.” So I do my damnest to look at each day with a bit of optimism. But if you have ever read the work I put out, sometimes optimism is never achieved. So does that give us the right to be ungracious for the things we don’t have? Or worse yet envious of other one’s gold?

After a night of just waiting to give up, I turned to the pages of social media. There in the dark I could see little notes and reminders my friends and family send to each other. Not so much to toot their own horn or to show off their accomplishments. But instead to send just a little joy to someone else. So after liking and hearting for a while, I found a podcast to drift into and go back to sleep. I didn’t get up till my body told me I had too. Then getting dressed and making up the bed till I found myself right here. So to all of you not having such a great day. Know life is often an unpredictable maze. With so many twists and turns, you never know where you’re going to end up. Remember patience.
