From beneath the black screen words appear. From out of the ether asking questions or making statements, for which I know not where they come. Quoting some lost text which I unknowing copy, life is about the repeat and rinse we all look to renew in our lives. I don’t mean to sound so “high fluting” or anything, it’s just the way the words come out. It’s just that I have now lived long enough to notice the cycles that we all live. The mistakes one generation makes that we see repeated by our children. Those little generational ticks taught by observation and genetics. I was arguing with my oldest child earlier this week about something I said. (It’s always about something I’ve said). Which we always leave unresolved. But that’s always been a quirk of my generation, never listening. That’s because we had no one above us to listen too. Our parents were always working or too busy with their lives to be bothered with. Oh they tried to enforce their rules, but we’d always found a way around them. Living our nomadic lifestyles, while our Millennial offspring craved order over chaos. So the friction between the two remain. Now we see the seed of another generation crave something more. A little guidance in an unguided world. They see beyond the greed and bullshit. But unfortunately the guidance they see leads them down a path of compassionless faith. Rules without patches of grey or mercy for the weak. But it ain’t like we haven’t seen this before. In there starched brown shirts and polished boots. The older you are the farther back you can see. We saw the numbered tattoos on the children of pain. We see the merciless genocide of thousands that only wish to survive. While we bare witness to countless millions judged by the tint of their skin and difference in faith. So I ask just one question, when will the cycle end?
