To a degree, I can see the blindness people suffer from living comfortably in their high rise apartments in town. Looking down at us mere mortals with little more than a thought. That sorta writing may sound good for a suspenseful crime novel. But I’m still find it uncomfortable eating at restaurants that use heavy utensils and cloth napkins. Raised on simple Southern manners, my family was more used to wearing hard leather safety shoes covered in paper mill pulp. Other than lacing up patent leather shoes and flirting with the secretaries in the office.
Still the sun does it’s best to peek through the clouds drying out small patches of dew with its relentless heat. But that’s life down here in the south. Where you juggle the proper manners of polite society while dealing with the indoctrinated bigotry and hatred held by so many. But who really pulls the strings in all this? A puppet master in the sky or their evil minions down below? To live beyond the indifference you were raised and to treat everyone equally. It’s a dream a many have sacrificed to see. So what about you? What are you willing to sacrifice?
