There ain’t much to look at outside, it rain most of the night and into the early morning. I went over to my daughter’s house and checked on the Zoo life again. She and her family just boarded the plane bound for home about 45 minutes ago. They should be back in Atlanta this evening. So hopefully I got one more feeding and litter box clean-up to go. When I got there this morning I was greeted by George, a brown Lab and my oldest granddog along with the two kittens. But the beagle hybrid Lance was nowhere to be found. After calling his name several times and checking every room, he was nowhere to be found. So I went outside with George and searched the yard. No Lance. So I could only assume the little shit escaped again. So being the boy scout that I am, I figured I’d be combing the neighborhood for a hyperactive dog. Not what I planned for a rainy cold morning. So I sat on the couch looking at George and George looking at me. neither one of us apparently with a clue. Then I heard a slight whimper, I knew it wasn’t George cause I’m staring at him. Behind the couch my daughter has a large dog pen, it is covered with a large blanket. She usually uses it as a timeout for the dogs. I got up and shook the cage, nothing. Then I pulled the blanket off and there’s Lance asleep and dreaming. Apparently my son who lives there with my daughter put Lance in time out last night or early this morning. Of course without informing me. My son works where you cannot make outgoing calls or text, so I was totally in the dark. Don’t worry I’ve put him on the shit list with those Christmas tree climbing cats. The moral of the story is communication. You can never have enough of it. And no, I am not talking about the mindless 24/7 news speak or the pointless doom scrolling we all do every day. I mean keep your family and loved ones informed, send them a note. Tell them you love them or at least text them where you hid that damn dog.
